I heart New York
From Semantic Web NYC
Local chapter of the Heart project:
Heart (Highly Extensible & Accumlative RDF Table) is an opensource project that intends to design and implement a system that stores and processes large-scale RDF data set. Heart will be based on Hadoop and HBase.
Group communication
Local announcements should go to the primary NYC semantic web mailing list: http://semweb.meetup.com/25/messages/archive/ or to the technical list: http://groups.google.com/group/swnyc?hl=en
The Heart project's mailing list is at: http://groups.google.com/group/hrdfstore and that is where technical discussion should take place. The main site (http://heart.korea.ac.kr/trac/) is also a wiki and a good place to put documentation.
Another interesting group is at: http://groups.google.com/group/semantic_web
Meetups
Achille Fokoue of IBM Research gave us our first talk on SHER, a scalable RDF store and query project that IBM ran until last year. I will try to get the slides he used online but until then, here is the video transcript of the talk.
